ETERNITY KNOT

This geometrical presentation comprises of ten enclosures where knots tie themselves crossing and interlocking into each other. It is the endless knot as it has no beginning and no end; symbolising Buddha’s endless wisdom and compassion.

 

Called buddha knot it is one of the most powerful of the eight sacred emblems of Buddhism.

The interlacing of lines in the knot is said to depict the interconnection of all things and the continuous cycle of existence that is created thereon.  Also, it is believed that the knot is depiction of the repetitive cycle of birth, death and rebirth until ultimate illumination.

It is very important to strike a harmony between the physical and spiritual world for all around self-development of an individual.

Form of Celtic knots relating to Iron Age European culture where they used it as a protection against demonic forces.

In Mongolia, called Olzii Utas or Happiness Knot, is believe to protect from wild animals and evil spirits and to bring long life, prosperity.

In Hindu mythology, it is associated as Shrivasta (i.e the mark on the chest of Lord Vishnu) which actually means "beloved of Lakshmi" his consort. Goddess of wealth or prosperity- Goddess; our Lady Luck is appeased by this. So, the endless knot is not only a mark of general auspiciousness but also, of individual happiness.

Also, in Feng shui is used to represent a harmonious flow of uninterrupted auspicious energies, commonly used as a symbol of everlasting love.

Since this symbol reflects interrelation, gifts with endless knots on them is considered to represent best wishes and establish an auspicious connection between the giver and receiver.
