Maple trees grow from 30-145 feet tall. Majorly planted as bonsai, some species in southern China and Mediterranian region are evergreen.
Depending on the season and species, maple leaves turn green to yellow, orange or reddish. In Japan, reddish maple leaves are a sign of autumn.
Maple leaf stands for tolerance, unity and peace in the flag of Canada. Maple syrup is an important part of their diet.
In North America, people placed this at the foot of their bed to ward off demons and encourage pleasures and peaceful sleep. Also, it was customary to have maple trees at the entrance of the house for repelling evil spirits.
In China and Japan, this Maple Leaf is an Emblem of Lovers.
in Japanese ukiyo-e paintings, its leaves are used as design motifs depicting love and autumn.
It is an ancient symbol used in Northern Europe. The symbol was believed to protect from curses and bring good luck and harmony around. Thus was used in various wood decorations, gifting etc particularly in Finland.
Till today it is used by some student’s organisations as their symbol. Others use it as a certificate of genuineness.
